Weighing less than 3 lb and measuring only 9.4" in length, the lens design is optimized for convenient handheld use from the sidelines to mountain trails. 5.5 stops of optical image stabilization aid stability while shooting handheld by compensating for camera shake. In situations where extra stability is required, the tripod collar foot is Arca-type compatible for rapid mounting on tripods and monopods.

A combination of four extra-low dispersion, two super extra-low dispersion elements, and Super EBC coating preserves accurate colors, strong contrast, and sharp detail everywhere from sunny fields to snowy mountain peaks. The 21-element, 14-group optical design provides the clarity needed when shooting with high-resolution X-series sensors, while the rounded, 9-blade diaphragm delivers a beautifully soft bokeh that's further enhanced by the super telephoto compression.

Linear Motor Autofocus

Enhanced by the powerful subject detection algorithms in X-series cameras, the Linear Motor autofocus system delivers fast and accurate performance in near silence. Additionally, the lens features built-in focus presets designed to grant you greater control over your autofocus to capture fast-moving subjects.
